May Misery

Unfortunately things still haven't really got going here yet, numbers and species are still well down on an average year.
Daytime temperatures are superb at around 20 degrees but the night time temperatures have been struggling, although last night was a minimum 7 degrees and the return was border-line depressing with a glimmer of excitement with a new for year Mullein.

My garden here in North Herts seems to be at least a Month behind now.
The moths...just four this morning. One each of Emmelina monodactyla, Agonopterix heracliana and Streamer, the latter two usually finish the first week of April here...and if it wasn't for the Mullein I would have been rather grumpy!

That's all from me for now, I hope to go out on a field trip on Sunday night.

  1. Saw a lovely yellow and dark brown sort of diamond marked dayflyer the other day, first of year. I'm only seeing a few plumes at night.
