Very confused, I
thought we were nearly the middle of May! Well the Lepidoptera family don't
think so with fresh Common Quaker's and Hebrew Character's last night.
A really poor catch again with just 11 moths of 9 species under clear skies which from my experience moths just hate.
It was relatively mild though at a minimum of 13 degrees and little or no wind and it is already 20 degrees out there this morning!
There were two new for year's, Nut-tree Tussock and Phyllonorycter coryli.

Butterflies seem to be 2-3 weeks behind last year, judging by my records. Interesting that you're finding the same with the moths Ben. Still no Small Blues yet at the A41 site. Hopefully things will have picked up considerably by the end of this month! ;o)

ReplyDeleteYes it has been tough going, we have struggled to keep any cloud that we have had during the day, moths love cloud and butterflies hate it! KI hope you find the Small Blues again this year, quite a few species in my garden today, M/F of Orange-tip, Brimstone and Small White. Going trapping at Bovingdon tonight with Roger and Steve.
