Quiet times currently

Well at least i'm getting some much needed sleep currently! Moths are very sparse at the moment, with clear skies and rapidly falling temperatures down to between 4 and 6 degrees, it's not even been worth lacing up the walking boots and going on a field trip!
To think we are now about 4 weeks away from peak moth season, where 200+ species a night (in the field) are possible, it's a little worrying.
Only 12 moths ventured out.

But, we soldier on, and even poor data, is data at the end of the day.

Needless to say it wasn't a waste of time, with one new moth for the garden, potted up early evening from the window near the trap. Isotrias rectifasciana is a scarce moth with very few records, it is only my 3rd ever, so a real bonus on a chilly night. Easily mistaken for a Cnephasia species.

I also netted another Elachista poae, the 2nd this year.
