Another fantastic night, although less moths and species as a result of a huge storm we experienced early evening, and we just had to be out in the hire car getting supplies in from a nearby supermarche!
Luckily we were only 6 miles away, 6 miles too far... driving in over 60mph gusts and torrential rain, debris was raining down on the car.
By late evening it looked like we hadn't any raining at all! But clear skies and a howling wind still, knocked the numbers down a bit.
But who could complain about the first Tiger Moth species of the night (And was to be the only Tiger Moth species of the trip) two stunning Cymbalophora pudica. Over the next few nights they kept returning in low numbers.
There were some lovely micros, some quite scarce such as the Tineidae Myrmecozela ataxella. An incredibly bright Etiella zinckenella was very photogenic.
Stemmatophora rungsi was the best moth, last seen in the Herault department in 2023.
Another warm day was expected on Tuesday and hopefully some lovely new moths overnight.
