I was amazed to find my 2nd Acrobasis tumidana in my trap on the 14th of July, the 3rd garden record and it certainly has been a bumper year for them on the south coast, where they may possibly be breeding locally.
A warm day followed by a warm night resulted in over 60 species onve more, but far too knackered to count everything.
A few less new ones than recent times.
Dioryctria simplicella was the best moth of the night, an uncommon visitor here and one of 4 similar species.
A lovely Female Oak Eggar was pleasing, as well as a very late year first Poplar Hawk-moth! And a lovely buff-coloured Female it was as well.
Moth garden list for 2025 stands at 567 species
