France Day 6 - 27/08/26 - The Last Night

The last night to trap was on the Thursday, as we were leaving in the dark early Saturday so it was all or nothing and I set-up 3 lights in anticipation.

Another warm night, but the humidity had abated a bit with the breezy conditions. The thermometer still read 19 degrees at 5am though!

Another load of new species potted up, some I literally had no clue on, and where to start looking, so it took a great deal of sorting, sifting and reading up.

Best moths included Ephestia welseriella, Metzneria hilarella & Symmoca orphnella. The latter a rare moth in France with sub-40 records in total.

Below I've listed the new species on the final night, and then included all of the rest of the species seen over the full 6 nights.

169 species were seen in total, a few were not able to be confirmed due to not being able to retain specimens.

What an experience, I do hope to return to the region in the future.
